The Adult Recovery Program is a mental health treatment program specifically designed to serve individuals 18 years of age and older who have a primary diagnosis of a mental health illness and secondary diagnosis of substance abuse or dependence. Individuals attending the Adult Recovery Program can attend up to 4 hours per day, 5 days per week (Monday through Friday), at Philhaven's Harrisburg location

The Adult Recovery Program is a mental health treatment program specifically designed to serve individuals 18 years of age and older who have a primary diagnosis of a mental health illness and secondary diagnosis of substance abuse or dependence.
The Adult Recovery Program understands how substance abuse or dependence can impact an individual’s recovery process from a mental illness. Therefore, the Adult Recovery Program intends to provide programming that addresses the individual’s mental health issues and provides education related to their substance abuse or dependence.

The Adult Recovery Program provides programming five days a week – Monday through Friday. Therapeutic groups are facilitated daily and encompass the following topics:
- Goal Setting
- Dual Diagnosis Education
- Group Therapy
- 12-Step Education
- Goal Review
Individuals attending the Adult Recovery Program must be 18 years and older. Individuals must have a primary diagnosis of a mental health illness with a history of substance abuse. Individuals must be able to fully comprehend the purpose of and to participate in the planning and implementation of the treatment plan. Adequate transportation is required of individuals participating in the program to ensure consistent program attendance. The individual’s level of substance abuse or dependence must be clinically appropriate to receive benefit from the program. Individual’s actively using drugs or alcohol will be referred to a drug and alcohol treatment program.
The Adult Recovery Program will attempt to meet the needs of any individual referred to the program. However, there are certain criteria that will exclude a referral from admission into the program. The exclusionary criteria include:
- Primary diagnosis of a substance abuse disorder or primary need for treatment is substance related.
- Physical or developmental disorders that would prevent the individual from participating and comprehending program activities

- Medical Assistance
- Managed Care (CBHNP)
- Medicare A & B
- Dauphin county MH/MR funding (as approved by Dauphin County MH/MR)
